As the holiday and shopping season gets underway, the top players in the sneaker space have given enthusiasts a handful of items to add to their wishlists.

NIKE, Inc. unveiled its history-making collaboration with J Balvin to mixed reviews. The multi-colored, heavily deconstructed Air Jordan 1 was first teased back in February during the Colombian megastar’s Super Bowl LIV half-time show, and fans will finally have the chance to secure a pair at retail on December 8th. Elsewhere under the Brand Jordan subsidiary, 11 pairs were officially confirmed as part of the Jordan Brand Spring 2021 collection. Among them, impressive takes on the Jordan 13, Jordan 5 and the oft-overlooked Jordan 9.

Over on the mainline side of things, a new footwear proposition from Tom Sachs was teased, although a potential release date is likely far away. Ahead of its long-rumored return to original form, the Nike Air Max 95 appeared in its inaugural colorway, but in ever-memeable NDSTRUKT form. A handful of Dunks also emerged, signaling that the Swoosh plans on making 2021 another great year for the once-basketball-staple. Jerry Lorenzo’s Air Fear of God 1 also joined the mix when it dropped in ultra-limited quantity via his brand’s Instagram shop. (The pair had been teased in the Nike x Fear of God winter collection’s campaign last week; Lorenzo took to social media to explain that the pair’s colorway had actually been the original one for the silhouette, and that less than 200 pairs had been made. Half were gifted to the company’s staff, while about 50 pairs were sold through the social media app.)

Away from any Jumpman and swoosh logo, adidas garnered attention for its 4D cushioning through both solo and collaborative efforts. New Balance did the same with its Fresh Foam proposition. Jimmy Butler also shook up the sportswear world when news came out that he had signed a significant deal with China’s Li-Ning. After the amazing 2019-20 NBA Playoffs run he had, it might be time for the world to experience a “Jimmy Buckets” signature sneaker.
