From Gingham plaids to cut-out Swooshes, the Nike Blazer has seemingly entered a new off-shoot of disparate design elements. Routinely rooted in its clad-leather construction pulled directly from the hardwood, the George Gervin-synonymous silhouette from the early 70s now employs a flipped ensemble featuring its suede and leather construction.
Shifting the dominant leather upper of the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 to its mudguard and quarter overlay in a tumbled leather “Sail” treatment, a “Pale Ivory” flat suede instead fills the composition’s base layer for an opposing neutral introduction. Just in time for the tail end of Spring, faded lilacs anchor the fuzzy fabric of the mid-foot Swooshes alongside a seldom infusion of “Honeydew” at the heel tab and tongue’s branding, affixed with “Pewter” dipped logos. Finished by a staple white sole unit, a vibrant vanilla hue graces the tongue in a lively accent in tandem with the surrounding flurry of seasonal pastels.
While we await further release details for the pair expected to retail for $100, in the meantime enjoy official imagery of the Nike Blazer Mid ’77 “Honeydew” below.
In the realm of upcoming offerings, the adidas Campus 80s “Croptober” releases this Thursday, April 20th.
