Michael Jordan often credits his teachers with helping him reach the levels of confidence required to achieve greatness. That in mind, MJ started the WINGS Scholarship Program that is meant to build relationships with teachers and mentors with the fundamental belief that “when given the chance, everyone can fly.” In 2018, the Jordan WINGS program released a special Air Jordan 5 decorated in student drawings, with proceeds going towards the brand’s mission to have education go farther and further. This May, another such release will honor the graduating class of 2020/2021.
Seen here via official images, this Air Jordan 5 Low is decorated in a regal black and gold, with 20 and 21 embroidered at the heel section. A square hangtag denoting the WINGS initiative comes attached to the left shoe, while a black tassel from graduation caps proudly hang off the left. The similarities to the DMP Jordans is clear, and for all students, graduating high-school will certainly be a defining moment as they continue down their individual paths.
Currently, a release is set for May 2021, so stay tuned for details.
Updated April 30th, 2021: A release date is set for May 14th, 2021.
